Dear Sir or Madam,

As a registered digital exhibitor with Frankfurt Rights, we would like to inform you about the opportunity to apply for the Frankfurter Buchmesse Publishers’ Tour Cannes 2021.

The Festival de Cannes is one of the biggest meetings of the global film industry. Following the successful launch in 2019 and the positive response to the Publishers' Tour 2020, we would now like to invite you to the 2021 edition of Shoot the Book!, the B2B event that promotes book-to-film adaptations as part of the Cannes Marché du Film.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 matchmaking, pitching and masterclass took place in digital format, which still allowed participants to establish contacts and enjoy direct exchanges with film experts from all around the world.

Next year, networking events, individual matchmaking with film producers, pitching sessions and a masterclass are all planned to take place in Cannes again.
Shoot the Book! will be held on 17 and 18 May 2021.

Publishers and literary agencies from Germany and from former and future Guest of Honour countries of the Frankfurter Buchmesse can apply for the Publishers' Tour, proposing two of their books. Participants receive accreditation for the Marché du Film, and will take part in networking events and matchmaking in the context of Shoot the Book! as well as an entry in the Shoot the Book! catalogue.

In addition, you can submit one of your book titles to be considered for one of the live pitching slots. The pitching titles will be selected by an independent international jury.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to present yourself and your titles at the Marché du Film des Festival de Cannes! If you are interested, please contact us by 13 November 2020 to obtain details of the application procedure.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Warm regards

Niki Théron

Shoot the Book! and Frankfurter Buchmesse

Shoot the Book! - organised by SCELF (Société Civile des Editeurs de Langue Française) and the Institut Français - is a special opportunity for producers to get to know selected books with high filming potential at one of the most important film festivals and to secure options. Frankfurter Buchmesse has been involved in the event format since 2017, with the first Publishers' Tour taking place in 2019. In 2020, the Publishers' Tour has received financial support from the Federal Foreign Office for the first time. The modified virtual Publishers' Tour Cannes 2020 offered participating agencies and publishers accreditation for the Marché du Film, participation in the two-day Shoot the Book!-Programm and exclusive meetings with film producers.
